Subsidy

The Fisheries Department provides various subsidy schemes to support fishers, fish farmers, and stakeholders engaged in fisheries and aquaculture activities. These subsidies aim to improve livelihoods, enhance productivity, promote modernization, and ensure sustainable development of the fisheries sector.

Subsidies are extended for activities such as:

  • Construction, modernization, and replacement of fishing vessels and crafts.
  • Procurement of fishing gear, equipment, and safety devices.
  • Development of inland fisheries, aquaculture, and mariculture.
  • Establishment of hatcheries, fish seed production units, and feed units.
  • Infrastructure development including cold storage, ice plants, landing centers, and fish markets.
  • Welfare measures for fishers, including safety, insurance, and capacity building.

All subsidy schemes are implemented as per prescribed guidelines, eligibility criteria, and funding patterns notified by the Central and State Governments from time to time. Beneficiaries are required to comply with the application procedures and documentation requirements for availing subsidies.
